A Little Turkey Shuffle for Thanksgiving

[v=G6TN6xPiPdg]

In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday here in the United States, I wanted to share some Chris Stuart with you.

In 2003, Californian Chris Stuart & Backcountry released a nice Americana/bluegrass album called Saints & Strangers.  I played it on KRFC-FM and I wish I had the album now. The title track related to the original immigrants that left everything they knew for the promise of everything to come.  You can listen to the full track on last.fm, if you can listen to tracks on last.fm.

Chris’ follow-up, Mojave River, leaned even more on the Americana side with a great Townes Van Zandt cover.  And now I see he put another album out I missed last year.

Chris won first-prize at the prestigious Merlefest Chris Austin Songwriting Contest in both bluegrass and gospel categories, and his songs have been recorded by many top artists such as Claire Lynch, Dale Ann Bradley, Larry Cordle, Dan Paisley, Michael Cleveland, Suzanne Thomas, and Sally Jones. Five of his songs have appeared on the Bluegrass Unlimited top-30 chart. He was an IBMA showcase songwriter in 2003, and was nominated by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America (SPBGMA) as Songwriter of the Year in 2005.

So much good music out there that never gets the airplay it deserves.

Anyway…  instead of of pilgrims, I found some turkey.

Enjoy.
